Why I joined Superpower

A letter on storytelling, creators who have lived it, and a team that led with humility.

I started my career working for an Olympic runner, and what stuck with me was how far a single piece of content could travel. One person telling the truth about their own experience reached more people than anything we could have bought. That is still the thing I care about most.

It is why I work with creators. The ones we partner with have lived the Superpower experience themselves, and their stories carry the mission further than any ad we could write. My job is to grow that by an order of magnitude, and I think it is one of the biggest levers we have.

I have spent my whole career in health and wellness, which means I have watched a lot of companies own one small piece of it. Superpower is the first I have seen seriously try to pull the whole thing under one roof. That alone would have got my attention.

What actually sold me was the humility. Everyone I met through the process had credentials they could have led with, and none of them did. They talked to me at my level, with real kindness and an obvious care for the work. It is rare and you notice it immediately.

Outside work I am in Bend, Oregon, which is a good place to be if you like being outside. I shoot photo and video, I am training for a triathlon, and I am on a bike or a pair of skis most weekends the mountain allows it.
